In the Krayan highlands of Kalimantan, a short flight with Mission Aviation Fellowship can save hours or days of walking through dense jungle. We wanted to experience firsthand what it would be like to travel from one village to another without MAF.
What would have been just a 12-minute flight with MAF took us five days and three modes of transportation. We trekked from Long Bawan to Binuang, overcoming leeches, log bridges, and the scariest boat ride ever. We also got to experience some Dayak culture with homestays in the villages of Pa’ Padi and Long Padi.
Huge thanks to Jones and Juny, our awesome guide and porter, to Alex for helping set up our trip, and to Matt, our pilot. We had a blast!
